Can anyone tell me what this is? Came bundled with a derelict Shopsmith I bought to restore. 17.5 inches long, 3.25 inches tall, 2 inches deep.

Thanks

Tell us about the knobs. Underside pix?

1 3/4" 'slot'?

Distance between the end notches?

Looking fer clues.

What you have is an accessory for a Workmate. There should also be a gray steel plate that has multiple punches to mount router to. The plate is clamped to the extrusion with the two knobs. The mounting plate is slotted and by moving it back and forth you control the distance from the extrusion, which is the fence. The extrusion goes between the two halves (jaws) of the Work mate. By adjusting the extrusion vertically in the jaws you control cutter depth. Now this is not a perfect system but it does "kind of" work. I had one before my first router table. If you would like pictures, I'll try to dig mine out tomorrow. But if you don't have the steel router mount you don't have much.

I just found my workmates and the router jig the other day. Don't know if I would have remembered how to use it.

Thanks, I never would have figured that out on my own

Bottom line is, I don't have much. That's OK, some Shopsmith part will be grateful for the space this thing previously occupied.

Yep that is part of the Routermate (part # 79-013-04). I got mine about 1991. If you are missing the top part you don't have much of it. It actually does work pretty well for what its intent was but then again I haven't used it in a long while so it must not have been that good at it.

I do know where my manual is so if someone needs that let me know.
