I recently replaced the infeed & outfeed rollers on my planer. I have on occasion run a board thru that was not being planed all the way across when just starting out. I noticed a series of cross tracks on the board where the blades did not cut. It looked like a really tiny washboard road. They were due to the new steel infeed roller compressing the wood.

I have read somewhere a recommendation to run a board thru the planer twice once at final thickness. DO NOT DO THAT WITH A STEEL INFEED ROLLER, or you may well ruin that piece.

I have made many 1/64 final cuts without any errant 'tracks.':)

Forrestb, you may have too much pressure being exerted on the board by the infeed/out feed roller. You may want to experiment by backing off some of the pressure by easing the spring on each side. If the board pulls one way or the other, you do not have the pressure even.
