Hi
I'm new here, and new to Shopsmith. So new in fact I haven't gotten it yet
I pick it up today at 5 ! It is used it belonged a a gentleman who suffered a stroke and is now unable to use it. I hate this has happened to him, but at the same time im excited to have found this machine. His brother in law is handling the selling, and I met him Fri to look at it. Its a Mk - 5 I belive 520 with all the extention tables and legs. I saw boxes of accessories, some never opened. He said it includes a dust colector too! I think he said it only a couple of years old, and he only used it to cut trim for a garage he built, before he had the stroke. The price is $1500 and when I saw the condition of the machine (spotless) I didnt think twice about the price, as I figured the man and his wife may need the money. Ive wanted a Shopsmith all my adult life, I hate this happened to him, but he can rest assured I will use it, and take good care of it will. I will inventory it and take pics when I get it home. Excited to be a Shopsmith owner at last !

There are opposing points of view regarding the price of a used machine.

If it is a 510/520 with dust collector and it is only a couple years old, you got a good deal.

Congratulations and welcome to the forum. We are looking forward to the pictures.

Welcome to the form Maxjr. Congrats on finding what sounds like a very good find. When ya get it home, clean it up, lube it, then align it. You should be good to go then. ANY QUESTIONS ya have, ask away.

Welcome to the forum as well. It looks like you got a very good deal, depending on what is all in the boxes, it should be like Christmas morning for you. Can't wait for the pictures, as has been stated, "no pics, didn't happen". :D

Tim.

Edit: Also I noticed you did not include your location in your profile. I don't understand why many people choose not to include their location, or even State.

Hi Sportsfans !
well I got my Shopsmith home ! I think its older than they though, now guessig a 510, looking at the less elaborate rip fence and by a ser# of 02/11/99 still in great condition ! The 4" jointer has been out of the box, and most of the other thpings have been used little.
accessories, include: 4" jointer, bandsaw, biscuit cutter, router arm, 3 -12" disksander faceplates, new lathe chisels, and a couple of things im not sure of.
Ok now to figure out how to post pics:confused:
