I just got a great deal on a shopsmith scroll saw. It's the one mounted on a stand. I need a belt for it. Also should I take it off the stand so I can mount it on my shopsmith?

My scroll saw is a stand alone. I find that to be very convenient. For me, I would not even consider mounting it on the Shopsmith.

You would need some new(different) parts to 'convert' to ss mount. Not likely worth the effort.

The belt is a bit of a PITA to replace,

I ordered a drive belt (It's a urethane "O" ring.) in April and it took a month plus to ship. If you need one immediately and you have the old one, you might take it to a vacuum repair shop to see if the have something that will work until you get yours from Dayton.

Stick with the system mounted on it's own stand. Though you might want to add a brace stiffener to the legs.

Be well,
Ben

Shopsmith had the belt in stock and I received it yesterday. Whats the secret to putting it on? Do you have to disassemble the scroll saw?
Thanks John

Did not instructions come with the belt? I believe the center shaft must come out/loose.

Did not come with instructions. But I did get it apart and the belt put on seems to run just fine.
