Hi Gang
I think that I got hacked. When I check in I do not get the highlights on the new posts. Also I got highlighted words in posts that when the cursor went over those words I got pop up commercials. This has happened before but I can't remember what I did to get rid of the problem. I think I got rid of the pop up problem but I still can't get the site to highlight new posts. Any ideas?

I have two programs (beyond my firewall) that I use regularly. Spybot-Search and destroy http://download.cnet.com/Spybot-Search- ... 22137.html, a program that has been around for a long time, and Malwarebytes (been around for a few years) http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-A ... 04572.html .

Spybot has a resident module (Teatimer, very small) that watches your system, it updates your hosts file (compicated) to block known bad URL's etc. Great program.

Malwarebytes, is a manually updated and manually run (both can be run in safe mode). Between those two programs, you can protect yourself and usually clean any infection you get. The Internet is getting nasty (I am glad I have been able to retire from it) and most malware is received through websites now.

I don't know if you were infected or not, but if you were these make a good protection schema and hopefully other may benefit from it as well.

I will not get into a debate as to what is best or not. These are what I use. They work for me.

All the best

Dick

Edit: I also turn off windows firewall and use an obscure little FW call Winpatrol. I find it more effective than the Windows FW http://download.cnet.com/WinPatrol/3000 ... 29149.html

I have encountered the lack of highlighting several times. Since I have a habit of marathon power up and 'connected' times, my conclusion is the cookie gets overloaded and can no longer provide that info. I do not recall; specifically, but closing the browser or rebooting the computer will IIRC correct that. Yes I be assuming the cookie is relevant.

Blinking? Do not have a clue.

Thanks for the recommendations for the Spybot S&D and Malwarebytes programs. Took care of some issues on my wifes' computer. Installed both on my computer and found a couple of issues, too. Again, much appreciated.

Outstanding. Make sure you "immunize" regularly and update both regularly. :D
