Not giving up...a new start

After wanting a Shopsmith for over 25 years, I purchased a used 510 three years ago. Suffice to say, I've been discouraged because I'm really not sure just what I have and what I need inorder to have this wonderful tool deliver its best. I've used it maybe a few times at best, ripping and crosscutting boards that is. No, I'm not giving up, rather giving this a new start. Yes, it does need cleaning, aligning and thankfully the previous owner had the full manual for it. I've also ordered the Power Tool Woodworking for Everyone book to read. Once I sell some stand-alone tools, I will be in the market for a jointer, bandsaw and of course, dust collector. And when looking at these necessary additions, what should I look for??? Any advice that you can offer will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!!!!

At the back of my manual is a separate document titled "Self Study Course for: The ShopSmith Mark V Home Workshop System" and, for a beginner at least, I found it useful. Mine is numbered as Part No. 505717.

Welcome to the forum. I grew up in Baldwin City, KS. Wonderful part of our nation!

Retrobalmer, how did I figure out your screen name so quickly? I think you and I might be the only two of our trade here!
