Hello to everyone here this is my first time here and my first SS I bought it used it has sat for almost 2 years well I got it home and my bad but when I plug it in and turn it on (pluged on its own circut) table saw mode it comes up to almost full rpm and then trips the breaker in the shop panel I thought it was the motor had it checked all ok. Now what I did notice was that when you turn the blade hy hand it dose not spin easy and seems to bind a bit like if you just move it a tiny bit and let go it sort of goes back like it was spring loaded sorry for the long post but I tried to explain it and any help would be great or ideas Thanks in advance for any help hookis.

Welcome to the forum. I think the spring back feeling is normal. Starting up at high speed will often trip the breaker. Take off the saw blade, attach a sanding disc and while turning the sanding disc by hand slowly turn the speed dial back to slow. Then read the sticky threads in the maintenance forum to learn how to clean, lube and check out the machine before you turn it back on.

That spring back is probably SET in the belt. I suggest some reading here.

What age and model??? When sitting the belts get a "fix" in them, causing a strained motor/amp in rush. run it a bit and change speeds, to get that "fix" out of the belts

Better yet spray the belt with belt conditioner. Minimizes the set.

hookis.

ShopSmith will not ship to Canada. You will need to order parts from the Canadian distributer All-In-One Wood Tools.

Although SS doesn't ship to Canada; one can ship to a shipping house in the US, rather than going through the Canadian distributor. Doing things this way allows you to order on-line as well as get weekly specials from SS that All In One Tools don't offer. It depends on how far you have to travel from where you live in order to make that decision however.
