Foot of the mountain, close to a valley. Would be wary of water runoff. Bet the views are nice. That place is 4 hr from me.

My only advice is make sure you have a really good termite inspection. Also check for bore bees. Those two critters seem to love log cabins in that area.

I suggest that you have homework to do. In the business it is referred to as "due diligence".

I think pest inspections are always in order when buying used property (maybe even new property). However, I know that one must always apply "due diligence" before taking such a step as this.

This property sold just a little over a year ago. Why? Did someone just flip it? There is a big difference in asking prices.

Depends upon the location(local option(s) within the state), typically near 10%. No state income tax. All inclusive sales tax.

IIUC, never bought a house here.;) I am currently in Gatlinburg(Sevierville).

Heading back north this AM.
