Several times this past few days when I have tried to log on to this site I get a message from Internet Explorer that it can not display the page and tells me that I may have an internet connect problem.
Troubleshooting the connectiopn shows no problem. When I try to conect again I may or may not connected and if not I get the same message. Anyone else have these problems?

Are you using IE 6 or later?.....Are you sure you have the right address?
Do you have good anti virus, anti spam, anti adware programs running? Are you having this problem with any other site? Keep looking....it's not the SS site....It has to be on your end.....dick

I've actually heard of this problem on one of the IT mailing lists to which I am subscribed.

It is believed to be related to an update that was pushed out by MS for IE. Out of 50 some PC's on someone's network, it only affected 10-15, but it had the same basic symptoms that you have. The only solution that the administrator was able to come up with was to install Firefox.

If you don't really want to go through with that, you may want to try to uninstall a few updates via the "add/remove programs" applet from your control panel (make sure that "show updates" is checked).

Also, you may want to check HiJackThis! out and see if that comes up with anything suspicious. HJT has their own forums that are newbie friendly in helping you decipher the output of your logs (just make sure that you follow their posting guidelines).

I have been having the same problem for the last two days but it usually goes away within a few minutes, I know Comcast was having network problems, it may be related.

Normally, I would insert a fancy little statement downplaying your comment as "Mac fanboyism," but I've recently been using the wife's MacBook that she has from school and I REALLY like browsing the internet with it...

I have been assembling PCs for myself and family for several years now. Is it hard to put one of those Mac machines together?

Mac's come pre-assembled and work right out of the box. It's true that they are not as 'serviceable' as some Windows pc's, but with all Mac's being built by Apple, along with the OS, they are much more stable. I'm not dis'ing pc manufacturers, but their OS is cr@p! And yes, I do use both systems on a regular basis. Leopard has Windows beat hands down. But that's a subject for another forum. Sorry to hijack this thread. ;)

As for Bill's problem, if he has just woken the computer from sleep, it may not have had enough time to bring the internet connection back on line. I have noticed that on occasion with my Mac. Also, have you tried quitting and re-starting IE? Another thing I would do on a pc is run a registry cleaner to check for problems with your registry. One such program is Registry Mechanic from PC Tools. There are others, but I have used Registry Mechanic on my son's laptop and it works well.
