Bargain??!! The only thing of value on this thing is the listing description - which is priceless!!

“owned previously by a woodworking school and barely used since so in very good condition!”

Condition would more accurately be described as: rejected as artillery training target :D :D

A stand mounted Shopsmith 12" planer for $250

https://killeen.craigslist.org/tls/d/te ... 39060.html

Ad first described it as a "Professional Planer", before I contacted seller. Ad still shows pictures of instructions that refer to it as "Professional", but that may just be what the owner (a friend of the actually poster who is helping out the owner) found and self-printed out.

Besides the stand, also has dust chute and extra knives.

I have no affiliation with seller ... just looks like a good buy that I thought others might like to consider.

This was actually one of the first times in this thread that I haven't had to look up where somewhere is (except for major cities).

As br549 points out it is a Mark Mount Planer that has been put on a stand like a Pro Planer. The give away on this since the model and serial number label is not shown is the Table being from a Mark Mount Planer. Mark Mount Planers have an Aluminum with Stainless Steel cover for the Table to make the tool lighter while the Pro Planer has a Cast Iron Table. Hopefully it has the motor that the Pro planer uses.

The stand that SS sold to mount the MK mount planer on came with a 1 1/2HP motor. The Pro Planer came with a 1 3/4HP motor. The stand in the picture is grey. That is the stand for the MK mount planer so it should have the 1 1/2HP motor. The Pro Planer stand is black as is the Pro Planer itself.

BTW, another way to tell the difference besides the table is the MK mount planer is grey and the Pro Planer is black.

When I bought my mark mounted planer in early 2020, the manuals that came with it referred to both the mark mounted and the pro planer. I believe the owners manual itself was labeled as the pro planer. This being the case, I can see the easy confusion on the seller's end.

For mine, I have run it on the power pro headstock, and run that at 240V, so I've can get up to 2 hp on it. Of course, now they've discontinued the planers, even thought that's one of the tools that I use the most on my mk7.
