For the Western Plant that is around serial number R31000. There is debate as to when the change from 10E to 10ER occurred but except for some rare instances I go with the Logo/Serial Number Plate. Others believe the change occurred when they went from Wood Extension Tables to Metal Extension Tables. This one should have the Metal Extension Table. As for the price, for me, it is too high. I sell restored Model 10's with the Speed Changer and Jigsaw for less. But I do it as a hobby, not to make money. The rarest item I see with it is the lamp attached to the Jigsaw.
Thanks Russ. I apprecite the info.

…and I disagree with Russ. I subscribe to the school of thought where, "If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck."

Aside from the 10E-styled belt cover (which based on its color, I would suspect is not likely original to this machine), there’s nothing I can see in the Facebook listing that indicates a 10E. This machine has a 10ER tailstock, 10ER miter gauge, 10ER table fence, even a “newer” styled jointer-shaper fence with metal fence segments (as opposed to the 10E-vintage wooden fence segments on the earliest model).

“it probably is a duck.”

ratchey wrote: Fri Dec 30, 2022 11:08 am Thank you. He just listed it a couple days ago so may see if the price drops. This is such a small population area and fairly remote so I doubt there are many around here that aren't an 8 hour drive round trip.
Happy to help! $500 is surprisingly not an unusual asking price for these systems, but these are also the same systems that are listed for many months with no buyer… Even if the asking price doesn’t come down, you might let it sit and then later reach out to the seller to see if they’ll let it go at a more reasonable price. The longer it sits, the more motivated the seller may be!

It looks like a pretty decent condition system, so I wouldn’t be afraid to acquire it. Hope it works out for you!

At the current $300 it's getting into the ballpark. I don't see the extension table, unless it is the board against the wall next to the steps, nor a 12" sanding disk, but there appears to be a sanding disk arbor for the later steel disk.
On the plus side there is,
- speed changer
- A34 jigsaw
- work light which is fairly rare,
- miter extension
- shaper/sander fence
and a lot more.
You could try to get them down a bit more, looks like they are motivated to sell.

I don't do FB so I can't see the item.

Having said that, the price is dependent on the sellers perceived value. If they don't know what a 10ER is showing them other adds for less money may get them to lower the price. The location can also effect the price.

The speed change is certainly a plus and worth paying a bit more. The work light is certainly rare but unless you are into collecting rare Magna items it may not be worth a premium. The rest of the included items are very common. Of course having them means you don't have to buy them later if you want them.

Personally I would not pay more that $200. I bought 2 10ER's from the same person with speed changers and 3/4HP A. O. Smith motors (a plus) for $325. They both came with jig saws and all the other items listed above plus more.

Again, sellers knowledge, motivation and location make a difference.

I don't know if this is a bargain, it doesn't look like a bargain to me, but someone might want it.

Somebody liked the "Greenie" colors. The Mark VII didn't come out until the end of the Mark 5 being "Goldies" and were the gray color paint. This one has some Mark 5 parts with it, note the two Tailstocks, but the Miter looks to be the Mark 5 one not the Mark VII one. The Shaper Fence is the Mark 5 one and doesn't fit the Mark VII. For me $700 is to high even with the Jointer and Bandsaw. If I was looking to buy a Mark VII, and at some point I might, this would not be the one, especially at that price. Just my opinion.

Condition is the issue with this one. Those parts may not sell at all on eBay as long as there are parts in better condition for sale, not to mention the high shipping costs for heavy parts or the whole machine. If it's been repainted already there could by a lot of hidden problems. With some time and small cost those parts could be cleaned up for good sale condition but then parts like that that are available for free or only slightly more. I'd like a Mark VII for my collection, if it was close enough to me to go see I'd bring $300 with me and start with an offer of $200. That assumes upon inspection I don't decide to tell him I'll dispose of it for $50 if he helps load it up.
