Nova G3 loosening

I have had a Power Pro and Nova G3 lathe chuck for about a year and a half now and I am having a lot of trouble getting the chuck to stay tight on the quill shaft. I have read about the pulses from the motor causing this type of problem, but is there any way to stop this?

This may or may not be part of your issue, but check to make sure you have the correct adapter to mount the G3 on the Shopsmith. For a while Nova/Shopsmith were providing an adapter that did not have the set screw bored at the correct angle to mate up with the flat on the quill.
A number of us got free replacements from Nova. Here's one of several threads discussing that issue.

Also, be sure the fiber washer is in place under the set screw.

I remember seeing that thread about the setscrew not being on a angle. Would you be able to see the angle by just having the long allen wrench in the setscrew? The adapter locking screw does have fiber washer in it and it doesn,t loosen at that junction.

Yes you can see the angle. It is about 3 degrees.
ALL adapter for shopsmith should have this angle so you can compare against say a saw arbor just to be sure.

How long have ya had this problem? Do you have the correct adapter?

The part number on the correct adapter is I
SNS. The incorrect adapter is p/n I
FNS.
