Adjustable Stop Collar and scales

I just got around to installing the scales onto my adjustable stop collar I purchased from the last special (I had to do something while recuperating for the latest kidney stone attack). Anyway, I did not trim the scales, contrary to what the instructions said. The scales still did not meet when wrapped around the collar. Has this happened to anyone else?

Now realize that one revolution is 0.0625". Thus the lines should NOT coincide at the ends, but be 1 1/2 tick marks wide at the joint.
