10ER acquisitions maintenance questions.

As I mentioned in Community I did get a couple of 10ERs and I have some questions regarding configuration and maintenance.

1) I got a jointer fence and head but I am unsure how to attache the head to the 10ER. The photo below shows what I got, if anybody can enlighten me on how to attach to the 10ER quill and table, much appreciated.

2) The motor seems not to be original but looks like a good improvement. It is label "Dayton Power", 1/2 HP with the axle protruding on both sides and original (looks like) forward/reverse switch.
It was tested in front of me and worked but once at home is dead like no power gets in it.
I know the outlet has power, so I will have to check wiring, etc. but any suggestions to start with are most welcome.

That's all for now.

The fence mounts to the table in place of a table insert. And I assume that the jointer head mounts directly to the spindle, like a sanding drum. But I don't have one, so can't say for sure.

Thanks. It all start to make sense now. I just realized the jointer head has additional set screws that are probably to hold it to the ER quill. I'll try tonight : ))

Now I also see why the strange shape it has that as you say would fit in the table insert.

You need to get to the 10ER group on Yahoo. Thy have lots of info that you seem to need. They can also connect you with the Vintage Machinery group who have most all of the 10ER manuals.

Yes, thanks. I did join the Yahoo group but finding info and navigating there is much harder than this forum.

That's my primary complaint with that Yahoo group. It's a great resource, but it's just so hard to navigate. It's basically a glorified email distribution list.

Perhaps this will 'help'.

Thanks, it helps. I did get some cutters for the jointer to make tongue and groove.
