Needing clarification on Mark 7 carriage disassembly

Recently purchased a Mark 7 for $50
and now I'm in the 'teardown for cleaning mode' (it needs it). I can't seem to get one of the carriage lock pieces to release after removing the locknut.
I've read
https://forum.shopsmith.com/viewtopic.php?t=12564 but it appears my setup is just a bit different (see attached). Unless I just need to 'pull harder', I can only guess that I'm still needing to remove or twist something.
Any help/advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I am guessing that tension pin on the 'nubbin' needs to be removed to allow the pinion gear to slip out. Why it is there is a mystery to me.
So apparently there were two different 'elevator' cranks.
BTW this is a Mark VII. Ignore that Mark 7 badge!:rolleyes:

Ok, I'll try to remove with pliers - I cant think of any other way to get a good grip on it

Drill chuck? Really really tightened down. Try to get the pin split between chuck fingers.

Tried working on the tension bolt thingy... not my best work. Ended up trying to lube and push down to gt movement - well it moves down just fine. Does NOT want to come back up. Ended up pushing it so far down it was locking the gear in place. So out came the dremmel.... my nubbins is no more
but neither is the tension bolt. Sure hope it's not a player in the table raising operation....
After that was done, I decided to pull off the C clip, and it came right out.
Anywho, cleaning is in work - will post pics later today. Glad THAT'S over... I'm so anxious to make some sawdust!!!!
