Shopsmith lathe face plates - or another maker?

So I just purchased my 2nd Mk VII for $50, and it came with these face plates - 6" and 3.5"
Only marking is on the small one, 3053-2X (the X goes across one of the holes, so is unreadable)
Very heavy.
Sorry for all the questions.... I'm almost ready to start making stuff

You can use any faceplate with a 1" by 8TPI internal thread by using the Penn State Industries L5818 adaptor. The faceplates with that thread are readily available at any woodworking store

That adaptor should be handy with other lathe accessories, too including whatever chuck you buy. 1" by 8 TPI is pretty darn standard (but not universal).

It is unlikely those face plates have the set screws angled to match the shopsmith quill. As such I'd not use them. Shopsmith equipment should always have the setscrew at about a 3 degree angle.
You do have the option of getting an adapter but I would go to bestwoodtools as they have a much better made version with the correct shopsmith angle. It will cost you more to buy but it is safer to use.
If you do opt for the cheap one I have instructions posted about how to fix it.

Click on spindle adapters
Scroll down to find the shopsmith versions.
This is very fine example of getting what you pay for. High quality parts made in the USA.
