Swapping ends with the Bandsaw

I have a project that needs to bandsaw, re-joint, bandsaw, re-joint, etc. This is not resawing veneer, but the 2 machines are the same alternately required.
Once I get the bandsaw setup for my multiple cuts, I do not want to move it off-and-on-and-off, etc.
Looking at the PowerPro exploded diagram, it appears to me that the motor drives the jointer output thru one belt and the bandsaw and quill are driven by off of that shaft by another belt. The salient point is the bandsaw and quill output rpms look to be identical (but reversed direction, of course).
So I will remove the table, drive the bandsaw off the (extended) quill and drive the jointer off the jointer output shaft. As long as I select Reverse output for the bandsaw I should have no problem using the Jointer speed Chart and the Bandsaw speed Chart.
Any issues I have overlooked?
(I know, why don't I get another SS? I would love to, but I do not have any room at all in my garage. Recall that SWMBO parks her car at least most nights in the half of the garage where I do my SS work.)

One caveat!
Keep brain engaged and remember to dis connect the bandsaw prior to any jointing. The jointer can handle being connected with the bandsaw, but not vice versa.
I think the headstock needs to move anyway so that makes it less of a problem.
Hopefully whomever programmed the PP did not assume the direction for the bandsaw and force it regardless of operator input. If so, do not tell 'it' bandsaw!

I can address the bandsaw mounting and confirm that portion of your setup is going to be fine. In fact I use that method more then I do mounting it on the other end.
I have twice turned it on without it being in reverse but noticed within seconds and powered down (hint: if it starts by hitting the "on" button it is wrong). It has done no harm but I don't like that happening so I always check twice to make sure I've got it right.
I don't own the shopsmith jointer but since you are using it the way it is intended it should work fine. You will be moving the headstock so the two can never be used at the same time, just remember to reset the speed and reverse it and you should be fine.

Thank you JPG & Ed

Having your inputs make me feel confident that all will go well tomorrow.
And I think speed change won't be an issue since I always turn off the PP before changing anything. OK: reverse, reverse reverse for the bandsaw.

The reverse option is a separate function, the bandsaw option on the menu assumes nothing, direction wise. You can run the bandsaw in reverse, don't ask me how I know.

I am confused
How do you drive the bandsaw off of the quill end? Don't you need a coupler to power the BS? If so, what adapter is on the quill to drive the bandsaw?
Dick
I think I just figured it out. Part number 503570 right?
How come my Mark 7 didn't come with one??????
maybe that p/n works

I just removed the coupler from the left hand side of the quill shaft (which normally would drive the bandsaw) and installed it on the quill.
I was using the jointer, not the planer so there was no problem. Had I had to use the planer instead of the jointer I would have had to move that coupler each swap. (or buy another)
You have to extend the quill a bit to get over the table base to get to the bandsaw, but not very much. The alignment is spot on.

Forrest,
I tried the configuration you are talking about but could not extend the quill far enough to make the coupling. I see two causes for this: 1) I have the offset tubes mounted on the bandsaw and 2) I have the lift assist installed which takes up a lot of lateral movement for the headstock/carriage. Or do you have a work around?
Regards,
Dwight
Ah-ha - you mentioned 'lift-assist'

Dwight, that is one item that I do not have installed. With the table removed I only have to extend the quill less than 2 inches to reach my bandsaw - which also has offset tubes.
I suspect the lift-assist may be your limiter.
I don't have a solution, but others here know a heck of a lot more than me about SS 'workarounds.'

Just a couple of points to make clear.
If you have upgraded to the dual tilt the bandsaw will not need to be off-set. You should not/can not tip the machine to upright with the bandsaw in place(the bandsaw would go right up with the tilt). Unless you have older machines you wish to use the bandsaw on then I dump the off-set legs.
The lift assist does take up room, but not so much as to prevent the quill from reaching the bandsaw with vertical legs on it. This is how I do it and it works fine.
I have the older ci table so I don't own off-set legs. Also can't look at the issues involved with them.
