Mark VII Motor on Mark 510

I have a old Mark VII that I don't use much. I just bought a 510 an was thinking
that it would be nice to put the Mark VII motor on the 510 so I can take advantage of the reversing motor. I was wondering if anyone had done this before or if this will work?

If you can get a couple of mounting brackets from a M5/V motor and drill/tap the MVII shell, you can.
No I have not done that. Looking at both motors it appears possible.

Question, are you speaking of just the motor or the complete headstock?

Headstock WILL definitely work!!!
IIWM, I would use the MVII carriage and tables also!

You need the removable motor mounts from two Mark V 1 1/8 HP motors or make up some to duplicate the Mark V motor mounts. I used the existing Mark VII back motor mount holes and drilled and tapped 2 new holes for the front motor mounts. I sawed the blower shaft off. I assembled 6 Mark V headstocks using Mark VII motors many years ago and I would believe they still are operating. Then I discovered it was easier to convert the AO Smith or GE 1 1/8 HP motors for reverse operation. I was never able to convert an Emerson motor.
