Link belts

In a 10ER forum I read link belts are too hard for the soft aluminum pulleys used in the 10ER.

I have installed link belts in my Mark V and I wonder if this could become an issue.

Does anybody have experience one way or another?

They are not SS and I can only assume they have a percentage of aluminum in the pulleys I use - namely my Delta lathe which is counter-shafted for greater speed ranges. I haven't found any problems and I have used link belt for several years.

Truth be told, 'normal' rubber belts wear into the sheaves if the same speed is run most of the time. That wear is not deep and is a visual thing. They still 'work'.

Yes the SS pulleys are fairly soft.
