It has been some time since I posted a completed project as I have been very busy with my day job.

I had a birthday recently and I got an update to my Shopsmith in the form of a Universal Tool Rest and I could not wait to try it out.

I also recently purchased a Harbor Freight electric chain saw (Birthday money)

Several months ago I got some Eucalyptus logs and now I have the tools to do something with them.

I cut up one of the logs and prepared a blank using my new chainsaw and my bandsaw I would have processed more but I broke my resaw blade and going through several inches of this hard eucalyptus with a 1/4" blade is a no go.

Chucked the blank in the lathe and went at it.

The bowl is approximately 6 inches in diameter and 3 3/4 inches tall inside depth is just over 3 inches.

Finish is Wood Turner’s finish by General Finishes. (I really like this stuff)

Buffed with tripoli, white diamond and blue plastic polish finished off with a coat of finishing wax.

Can't expand on the above praises, except to say I'm envious! Needless to say, I've a learning curve to overcome.

I do like the UTR. Nice not to have to constantly readjust like the old always shifting around. It stays put.

Need to do more turning once I get more blanks cut up which has to wait for a new BS blade. My 1/2" finally let go and all I have left is 1/4" and I'm not about to even try to resaw 6" eucalyptus with that.
