Doing that, on a smaller scale, has been one of my dreams. Now if I can only get off my ass and accomplish it. Nothing stopping me but myself, ultimately.

I pretty much grew up that way. We (my mom and dad and three boys) had a pretty large operation with 300 mother cow units of cattle and about 3000 producing apple trees, so we used a lot of equipment, but we had a 2 acre garden which grew our perishable food annually, which we canned, we grew 10 acres of beans every 7 years or so and stored them and consumed them as we went. It was a hard life (at least I thought so at the time) but I wouldn't trade it for anything now. My wife and I buy our food today at Walmart  but I am not far from the tree as far as my property is concerned. I like the land even though I spent the last 35 years in high tech businesses, I never lost my roots.

Interesting video ....

It was fun and interesting to see the similarities and differences in the life of a woodsman between the US and UK. Like Dave I admire how much this guy gets done and wonder why I don't get more done every day!

Yep. One of my downfalls.
