I'm new to the forum, so hi, everybody.
I have a 12" thickness planer and am replacing the blades - never done this before. Can anybody tell me what I need to watch for. Thanks in advance.
more info?

It would help if we knew what method or tools you will use for the replacement.

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean.
I am using an allen wrench and screw driver to remove the wedges holding the blades in place.
Is this what you are asking about?

There's a video on the Shopsmith site which covers changing the planer blades. I think there may even be plans for a jig to set the blade height.
Here's a link to the video.

Are we assume that this is a Shopsmith planer that we are discussing?
Why are you replacing rather than sharpening the blades?

That video is good. I like using the knife setting gauge that came with the planer (no dial indicator). Easy to use, works great.

Yes, it does work well. It did the job for me for many years but that was back when I could see real well. Not so good now.
