what glue to use on bandsaw cover (adding window & dust port)

I've tried duco cement, epoxy, superglue, new loctite Go2 glue... I can't tell what kind of plastic it is but nothing holds to the plastic bandsaw case/cover.

I know the SS windows snap in but they are not free. I'm hoping to use glue instead of screws.

Any ideas? Thanks

Sorry, but I can not answer your question. I have had the same problem only with the dust chute with no solution.

Try the glue for PVC piping.

Advice - - Don't glue it!!!!!! The window gets dusty on the inside and must be snapped out for cleaning so you can see through the plastic. If you glue it, you will have to remove the cover to clean the window. Nothing gained.

No window in mine but, I did use a toilet flange for a dust port. Had to bolt it on.

On my band saw, I just used a hole saw to cut a round port over the tension gauge. I did not bother trying to put anything over it. It works very well just like that.

I tried Nexabond for both the window (some clear plastic that was once the bottom of a parts bin) and a dust port. Gave up and used screws to hold the dust port adapter and left the window out. I'm not certain if that opening causes any problems, but haven't noticed excess dust coming out. If I was to try and reinstall the window, I was thinking of pop rivets to hold hinges and a magnet to keep it closed, but then figured when I need to clean the window, I'd just take off the whole cover. I'd use that time to blow out trapped dust. As it is I don't think that opening is affecting dust collection, but I'm often wrong when thinking!

Try Sonolastic 2. There may be a later improvement but this stuff adheres to everything. I got some when a roof was replaced and have found nothing (wood, brick, cement, plastic, PCV, acrylic) that it doesn't lock down tight.

Hmm, I can't snap the one I have out, or in, as I'm trying to save the $10 something by using a piece of plastic cut from a package. I just cut a rectangular hole in the cover - drill, saw, file, done. It makes sense now why they make the real ones so they clip in.

I like the idea of hinges and a magnetic catch, though I'll see how it does with nothing for now. I'm just moving from hand tools and shavings to power tools and sawdust and shavings and decided this past week that dust collection is my next step. I'll need to add a port to the bandsaw as well. Perhaps screws or bolts it is, though I'll look into those glues. Even if I don't use them here it is always good to learn about new glue, and two?

Sololastic 2: "available in 40 standard colors and up to 470 custom color choices" !! What do you think the chances are that it comes in Shopsmith "hmmm, what's the ugliest grey we can come up with?" grey?

...off to curl up in front of the fire with a nice book about dust collection.

I used CA glue to hold the window in my cover and held OK. It took some time for the CA glue to set up and cure but it is still OK after about 5 years.
