Ryan, I don't have any recommendation for you other than to suggest not listening to anything while working a machine.
The only time I have had an injury was when I was distracted - not paying 100.0 % attention to my work - or when I was very tired.
Listening to music or talk radio would provide to much of a distraction for me.

I'd stay away from ANY with batteries. Get one NRR rated in the 30's.

Bonnie got tired of me not hearing my cell phone when she calls, so she did some research and came up with a set of protective muffs that will pair wirelessly via Bluetooth to a cell phone, mp3 player, etc.
Just plug this small Bluetooth receiver

into these protective muffs

Then pair it to the Bluetooth device of your choice. No dangerous cords or batteries to worry about.
Jim
Almost forgot. You also need a Male to Male Adapter to connect the Bluetooth to the muffs

Ear muffs head bands got in the way of my face shield and besides made my ears too hot (and sweaty in the summer) so I switched to the Sens-Gard SG-31 protection. Frankly they are not a complete as muffs, but are a decent compromise and because to the design, I can easily hear a conversation while blocking out noise from DC, saws, etc. Significantly more convenient than foam plugs or ribbed inserts, just not as good a seal as muffs.
Maybe not the info you were looking for, but if you check out the video on YouTube you will see if they are acceptable.
Be well,
Ben
