Not to far away from me, someone is selling an Osborne miter guide for 60$, Can it be adapted for the Shopsmith ?
And is it that more useful compare to other brand of guide ?
He says he paid it 120$, so half price in Canadian $ and not sale taxes ...

Looks like a decent price b u t by the time you get it to fit a shopsmith miter slot you might as well just by a new one that is made for a shopsmith.

Of course I'm guessing here as I have no idea what osborne might be willing to do for you, a phone call on Monday could answer that.

Do they still offer the miter for Shopsmith? A friend had considered one a while back and said he didn't find one on their site. He did NOT contact them.

Be well,
Ben

These are the relevant sections from the Osborne website FAQ
What size slot will the guide bar fit?
The EB1 and EB2 go from about .745 out to .755. The EB3 starts at about .741 and goes to .765. All are 3/8" thick.

Will it fit my saw?
The Osborne EB Series of miter guides will fit any saw with a nominal ? by ¾ inch slot. The EB3 bar itself is .741" wide with expansion capabilities out to about .765" If the slot on your saw falls within that range, our guide will fit.
The only viable solutions to a saw with a significantly different slot is to use the bar that came with the saw. Have a machine shop drill and counter bore two holes in the guide bar you already have, the rest of the guide can then attach to you bar. This problem only exists on saws with slots that are not typical size.
So it could work, but you would need to modify the bar from your SS mitre gage, or get a bar from All In One Wood Tools http://www.allinonewood.com/ (the Canadian SS distributor), or you might be able to file/grind/machine the bar that comes with the Osborne Miter Guide down to fit the SS slot.

Since I already have an extra "Shopsmith Bar" it could be feasible.
I guess I have to find out by bying the Osborne guide.
Thanks for all you answers.

Bravo for the new look admin.
