Since we had dog beds I figured we needed equal tome for cats. This was my solution for an elevated cat bed. It is made of alder, maple and padauk. The base was the max height I could turn on the SS

That really looks good. Any problem of cat tipping it over jumping up on it?

Yes the cat did tip it over first thing ! To solve the problem it is currently zip tied to the wall on the corner. As far as how its made I laminated up the base and column and then used the SS to turn it as a unit. The top is birch ply framed with alder. The inlay was done by first routering in a 3/4 inch dado and then inlaying the maple and padauk which was then put through the surface sander to bring it flat. The inlay was made by gluing up strips of maple and padauk which were 3/8 inch square. When glued up it gave me about 18 inches linear of the inlay. I then sliced off 1/8 inch squares and glued them into the dado and then surface sanded the pieces flat.
