520 Fence Rear Pin

The pin at the rear of my 520 fence tends to migrate out with use. Typically, I don't notice it until I am cutting a board and it hits the pin. Then I tap it back in and all is good for a while. Is there something I can do to make it stay where it belongs?

You'll get a more "eloquent" solution I'm sure but what I would do the next time is shows it's head is to put a drop of CA (superglue) on it and tap it back in flush.

I suggest that you call Shopsmith and ask them. It may be a warranty issue.

I am unable to determine how the pin is held in place. I suspect it is wedged in under pressure.

IF it IS wedged in, I would suggest BLUE loctite.

What is it's function???

The pin serves as the 'pivot point' for the rear fence lock mechanism.

Bill I used red loctite on one of mine. Now it stays put. Not very likely you would ever need to remove it.
