Shopsmith/G2 6x48 Sanding Belt (80 Grit)

I was at my local Lowes yesterday and, on an impulse, picked up a Shopsmith/G2 6x48 sanding belt in 80 grit. (I checked the Lowe's website and Lowes appears to carry the 6x48 size only in 80 grit).
The bad news is quality control. The tape that goes over the inside seam was over-hanging the belt on one side about 1/4 to 3/8ths of an inch. Not hard to correct by cutting off the excess with an knife, but I shouldn't have to.
In addition, the belt width above and below the seam wasn't consistent. Right side is aligned but on the left side the belt looks to be about 1/16th narrower below the seam. I don't think this is going to effect its use but it is further evidence of less-than-great QC.
The good new is that I fed the belt a few test pieces of 2x4 it absolutely devoured them. After cleaning the belt with a rubber abrasive cleaning stick, the belt looked new. It appears that the belt will last a long, long time.
