what species is it ?

Does anybody know what species of wood the KD 2x4’s at home depot are ? I use it for shop fixtures etc. and decided to use up the scraps to make a segmented bowl. I have been contemplating turning a very large segmented vase which will be at the outer limits of the SS size capabilities in size and diameter and thought that it might be a good choice if it turned well. I glued up a small blank and it turns remarkably well and has very nice grain pattern for a blonde wood. I believe it is a species of Douglas fir but I am not sure. The price is definitely right.

It does look like douglas Fir but if it's marked SPF it's Spruce.Fairly wide grain for Spruce.Nice bowl either way.

Fir is more reddish. Pine it may be. Spruce is easier detected before finish. The shape of the knots tells the difference between the two. There are different 'pines'. First time I have seen the pix.
