How to unlock from the vertical position.

I have until this time never had a need to raise the headstock to the vertical Drill Press position. However, I just found it is easier for me to replace the V-Belt in the vertical position. But now that I have completed that, I can't figure out how to unlock the headstock to lower the unit back down to the horizontal position....Help!

Oaky! I apologize for asking this dumb question in the first place. I find there was nothing obstructing the lowering of the headstock (the knurled knob was not involved). It simply was the resistance to pulling it back and lowering it. I have found in the past that forcing something many times results in damage.......this time I was wrong.....sorry for bothering everybody.

When you raised it, did you tighten the knurled knob that locks it in the upright position?

I would assume he did. ;) Otherwise it would already be 'horizontal. :D

Oh I do hope he did 'lock' it from 'unlocked' position of that screw. Otherwise there be a new groove.

The vertical lock is nothing more than a bolt with a knurled head. We loosely refer to it as a lock but I never treat it as such.

It is circled in red and again in black in this image of my Shorty in the vertical position. Sorry to post something so hard to see. Lower right side of picture, very faint.
