Blade Size

I have an old Mark VII. It has a 10" blade. I have a very light weight job that would work better if I could use a 12" blade. It could be done at a low RPM. Does anyone see any problems with using the 12" blade?

The blade may not clear the tables and or the dust collection components. You would be better off borrowing a suitable blade from a friend and probably safer.

I can not say that I see any problem (if there is physical clearance for that oversized blade) but I also do not see any advantage.
What is to be gained by using a 12" blade that can not be achieved with a 10" blade and the variable speed capability of the Mark V.

I am trying to cut at a 45 degree angle to take the corner off of a thick piece of wood. The 12" blade would allow me to cut off a larger "triangular" piece off the corner edge.

Yes, if I had access to a ban saw I would opt for that too.

Run the 10" blade as high(table as low) as it can at that 45 angle. Then measure the blade clearance to anything within an inch. There you will find your answer.
I predict there are many points < 1" table insert included as well as the table itself. Mine is again apart awaiting the base.
