Greetings, my first post:
My bandsaw started slipping the blade. The tires were old and cracking so I bought two more. As I pull the old ones off I discover the top wheel is very hard to turn.......
The bottom wheel, not attached to the motor, spins freely.
First question: should there be any resistance there?
2nd: if lubricant doesn't do the trick must I dismantle the shroud to access that axle?
3rd: How bout them Patriots eh?
4th: Anybody tried putting tires on the wheels with no glue at all? My old ones had no glue, I'll try the new ones with no glue....

While you were out I consulted my manual.
There's a retaining ring and a fiber washer on the upper wheel.
Now to figure out how to remove a retaining ring.
Apparently my split ring pliers that I just bought at harbor freight are not going to help because this is not a split ring........

The top wheel should spin pretty freely. It rides on a needle bearing that needs periodic lube/grease. There's a retaining clip and fabric washer that hold the upper wheel to the upper axle. Remove them, inspect for damage to the axle and needle bearing, lube, replace and see if your problem goes away.

No glue is needed if you are putting on the orange silicone tires. The black rubber tires need rubber cement.

Hey thanks. My first ever spiral retaining ring removal and replacement went off and on without a hitch.
Apparently the last guy used wood putty instead of grease on them bearings. I washed them out with WD40 and oiled them up. They spin like freedom.
Now riddle me this: how'd my black rubber tires work for 25 years with no glue? That's when I bought this machine second hand.
On the product review page there's some angry tire buyers kicking the new orange type, and a few more complaining about the glue on the black rubber................
My hands are cold, I'll think on this....

well so far it hasn't. That tire doesn't stretch well when it's cold.

Maybe the glue just dried up and came off with the old tire. Certainly the new rubber tire kit comes with glue.
