Akempucky

Post by dusty »

Thank you rmbishow for setting me straight.

I stuck my neck out believing that I was passing on some good information only to have it (the information) shoved right back in my face.

I have always thought that akempucky was terminology that Nick used for the gunk that is crammed in the hex sockets on the quill and headstock. It appears that I was wrong, dead wrong.

However the description that you read here does not sound like the substance I had to dig out of the socket heads on my Mark Vs. That stuff sure wasn't a waxy lubricant like substance.

What is 'correct' depends upon who is using the 'word'.

Nick used that 'word' for many different things.

That includes the set screws and crud in general.

The web page says it is both a lubricant and a paintable putty.
