Speed Control

I have had a SS 510 for 20+ years and for the most part i love it. The band saw is GREAT as well as the 6" belt sander.
While adjusting the speed the other day the pin poped off between the sheave on the idler pulley and the "pork chop". I managed to get it back on but it popped off again. I noticed that the sheaves would not slide back and forth. Not sure where to go next.
Any Ideas?

How often over the past 20+ years have you lubricated it(oiled the sheaves)?

That would be step one!!!! ;)
