I have a Fox Super Shop inherited from my Dad that the spindle drive motor quit on me while I was cutting. The motor control board had two power transitors blown in half and a diode broken/cooked. This tool has a 2hp permanent magnet dc motor. The unit id tag says it is a model 5536-00 - serial# 7893. I have replaced all 5 power transistors and the diode but it takes out the circuit breaker each time I try to use (even with the motor wires disconnected from board)...can't find the problem and believe I may need to procure a new motor control board. I can't find another KBIC motor control board (KBIC-L in solder on back of board) that matches look of original board on line. I'm lost...can I get board fixed (and where?), or if not, where can I get a new one? All help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

What is the size of the controller board. I have a few of both 110 & 220 VAC DC KB Electronic controller boards including a few that I never used, only tested them for operation at that time. Contact me if interested.

Hi Bill, I"m SOOoo sorry i didn't find your post earlier...PC problems and old age I guess. If by "size" you mean 110v or 220v, ...it is a 110 volt setup. I do some woodworking in winter and this setup is very helpful and I would really like to get this unit running again. I am interested in a motor control board if you have one that can work for me. What can I do to help determine if board will work for saw and what can I do to get one from you if one will work?

If there is a large value capacitor on the board I would check it. Or possible a bridge rectifier that may have a shorted diode. A shorted rectifier in the AC input is a prime cause of blown fuses in low voltage high current power supplies.

Realize Bill is in post-op from bypass surgery last week. Be patient.

Thank you for the replies...I will check for any large capacitors and diode shorts on board and sorry to hear about Bills"s surgery...pray for a successful recovery for him.

Unsuccessful in attempts to troubleshoot/fix the motor control board. I'm still looking for a solution. Hopefully Bill is recovering well...Bill - please contact me when it is convenient for you if you still have control boards. (If anyone has a board, please contact me.)

Can anyone help me get a new motor control board for my Fox SuperShop. I have tried to troubleshoot old one and replaced the power transistors, a diode, and fixed a circuit board path but the unit blows the circuit breaker immediately when I turn it on (even with motor wires disconnected from board). I'm at a loss for direction.... any suggestions? Thanks for consideration.

I believe that Skip Campbell who runs the Shopsmith 10-ER list on Yahoo groups is knowledgeable on DC motors.
You might also consider contacting a maker of commercial tread mills.
