Sroll Saw noise

Last night I tried out the scroll saw I bought on Ebay. When operating, the top arm seems to clunk loudly and jumps more than a little bit, especially under load. Any ideas?

Bad bushing or bearing.
Possibly a cracked arm.
Improper tension between the arms.

Clunking can be due to upper arm going too high and hitting the upper cover.
When the arm 'jumps', what direction?
Food fer thought.

JPG, thanks for the link. It appears that I have a cracked arm where the upper arm cover attaches to the main body. The upper arm cover is what is clunking, and I assume that it should be stationary. It if flopping up and down. Is this a (easily) replaceable part or did I buy an expensive anchor?

A pic will be tough now as it looks like it's the tab at the end of the arm that broke off. Hard to see when the unit is assembled. I'll try to take it apart tonight and tak a pic. It appears that it is part 1 on the exploded diagram on the Shopsmith site.
