]I just took a look at the two tables I have and realized the table tops were swapped. The 80's table top has the bolt on extruded edge that the fence clamps to, while the greenie table has that edge as an integral part.

As I swapped them I noticed that the greenie table top was not sitting right on the rear trunnion, part 142. There is a round button-like protrusion right in the center between the two bolt holes labeled "TOP" (word is cast in the part). This doesn't show in the diagram. When I have that up, as the word top suggests, the table actually rests on the little button instead of contacting both sides of the trunnion where the bolts go. This means it rocks side to side. When the trunnion is turned over the table top rests instead on the tie bar (worn area marked in blue). The trunnion still doesn't contact on both sides. I see no indication of a washer in the diagram and parts list but both tables I have came with extra thick washers on each of the four bolts. I think the extension tables have them as well.

The '83 table does not have this issue - the underside is cast differently.

It is pretty clear I just need to find the right washers, or just stick the heavy ones between the trunnions and the table, but I'm curious about how they actually were made. I would think the large washers would go where washers usually go, between the bolt head and the trunnion. Are they really spacers instead of washers?

Top refers to the position as the table is assembled to the trunion at the factory where the table is 'upside down'. i.e. laying flat with the table top surface laying on the assembly 'bench'. In other words the 'top' labeled side faces the floor when the table/trunion are mounted on the carriage.

With the 'button' pressing against the bottom of the table, tightening the screws may break that part.

Not the first time this has reared its 'head'.

Yes those thick washers belong under the heads of the trunion/table mounting screws.
