Kroil penetrating oil is on sale from the manufacturer. I got a mail in coupon because I bought it when it was on sale before. You don't need the mail in form. Just go the web site www.kanolabs.com and select Aerokroil. The 16.5 oz spray cans are buy one get one free. $19.00 for two cans. That is what it was when I bought it 6 or 8 months ago.

Kroil is hard to find locally almost every where from what I have read but people that have used it say it is the best penetrating oil. YMMV

No Oil used ................... 516 pounds

WD-40 ..................... ... 238 pounds

PB Blaster .................... 214 pounds (mineral
oil in a solvent carrier, often acetone or mineral spirits)

Liquid Wrench ...............127 pounds

Kano Kroil .................... 106 pounds (mineral
oil in a solvent carrier, often acetone or mineral spirits)

ATF - Acetone mix............53 pounds (ATF (automatic transmission fluid) -
predominantly mineral oil).

I had a few problems when using the ATF - Acetone mix. Each batch was only good for a few days so had to mix a new batch each time I needed it. This mixture also stained my fingers and my clothes and was very difficult to remove. The smell, it stinks, would get to me after a few hours plus my wife made me immediately take a shower after each time I used the mixture.

I started using the different Kroils many years ago as it had none of these problems and was immediately available for use. I have used many dozens of cans of Kroil and have been really satisfied with the results. It works outstanding to unstick frozen Control and the motor Idler sheaves. KanoLabs (866-388-1848) makes many really good products that I have used and was very satisfied with the results for each of their products.

Decades ago, when I worked for an IH tractor dealer, one of the mechanics mixed spray bottle batches of HyTran (IH's hydraulic transmission fluid) and WD40 (out of gallon cans), about 50:50 as I recall.

OK, asking for a reality check here... My neighbor left a bunch of the orange harbor freight quick release clamps out in the weather for a long time. I manages to salvage some with just 3-n-1 but most still have the threaded adjuster frozen tight. I've tried a torch as well. I know they are cheap, but if there is a reasonable chance kroil would free them then I'd rather buy some than toss them. Can the stuff get through that? Seems rusted threads like that would be asking a lot since the rust may be all along the threads inside.

Ahh, another "Rust Hunter" among us!

Penetrants can help, but the job may try your patience. When trying to loosen these things, you may also want to employ methods such as:
- Waiting a long time with repeated soaks.
- Try turning the thread both CW and CCW.
- Use a cold chisel or impact wrench to "shock" the frozen threads rather than "steady pushing".
