A small project, long on my "to do" list has finally been completed. The pullout shelves for the sheets and discs are 1/4" MDF. For the disc shelves I glued two 1/4" dowels into the MDF to hold the discs in place.

I made something similar years ago for my flat sheets, but did not think of the discs, blocks, and sanders. Yours is much better and keeps everything in one place.

Brian it is a very nice storage, what are the dimensions of it. I guess the depth is a little more than a sheet of sandpaper ?
May I copy your nice storage ?
Is it necessary to put a back to it, mine would be in a cabinet already existent ?

I am going to have to turn it around ... the shelves will have to be wider to accommodate the depth of the cabinet which is 10 1/2 inches. so the sandpaper will be sideways. I do not think it will affect the rest and I can make de sandpaper cabinet larger or wider than yours.

The outside dimensions of my cabinet are 26 x 18 x 10. It is not necessary to put a back on the cabinet, as the dado joints will help keep it square. I used a little Titebond II and some 4-penny finish nails at the corners. I did not have any 1/2" Baltic Birch for the two shelves, so I used regular plywood and hid the voids in the front edges with iron-on veneer. For the pull out shelves, I glued a piece of 3/8" x 3/8" Poplar to the MDF. It is hung on my wall using a French cleat.

Well designed and executed, if it only had room for the sanding belts from the SS.
