On the strip sander there are two sharp corners that will give ya a GOOD scratch. They are on the front of the cover and I rounded them over a little to late. Part#1

Will Robinson.

gonna smack them out of the park. :D
(Yes I am having some fun.)

I too was injured by a strip sander. The guard that came with the sharpening kit did not have the corners broken.... you can read about it here:

http://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/begin ... t3079.html

Read down to post 31729.

I use to be able isolate a single post but I have forgotten how or the new software here isn't working right????

Anyway beware of sharp edges, they are everywhere.

Ed

Yes, and the Robot said "Danger! Danger!" not "Warning! Warning!"

I haven't found a built-in feature in the new forum software that supports linking to a specific post. But I did figure out a workaround.

Here's the link to the thread you pointed to: http://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/begin ... t3079.html

And here's the link to the next page of that thread: http://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/begin ... 9-s10.html

Note that they are identical, except for the appended "-s10" at the end of the URL. Since there are 10 posts per page, I surmised that the "-s10" was telling the server to offset the address 10 posts into the thread. (As programmers will do, the very first post is at offset 0).

So back to page 1 of the thread. Your blood-letting post is the eighth from the top. Which to a computer programmer makes it post #7. So the offset term in the URL should be "-s7".

Let's test that theory by hand-editing the URL: http://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/begin ... 79-s7.html

Yup. And on any page after the first one, it's a bit easier. First, count how many posts need to be skipped in order to get to the one of interest. Then, to create your custom URL, just copy the existing page URL, and add your skip-count to the offset term.

Thanks for that info Dennis. The old software made it easier, but at least there is a way to do it now.
skou (the English police)guess I forgot about the association with the Swiss family, late at night.
The "warning warning" may have come from one of two best Science fiction movies ever. The Forbidden Planet.

Didn't try the method yet but I will bookmark this post so I can come back to it when I'm in need of it.

Thanks for a solution.

I'll check into this, something is broken. In the past you could right-click on the white piece of paper before the post number and get a link like:

http://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/viewt ... 98#p187198

On the shopsmith theme a link formatted like that has stopped working. Should be an easy fix.

Aha! Admin's technique works in Prosilver also. Right-click the tiny white page icon (just to the left of the author's name) on the message to which you wish to link. Then click "Copy Link Location" from the popup menu. That's it -- just paste the link in your message wherever desired.

Here's the resulting link to Ed's post where he brought this up: http://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/viewt ... 79#p187179
