Bearing size for control sheave button?

I'm sure I've seen it here somewhere but found no size mentioned when searching, though I did see posts about replacing it (and the potential problems doing so).
I'd like to try this, but I'd like to spend less than the $25 for a full button and bearing off ebay, just buy the bearing itself and reuse the button itself, specially since I don't know for sure that it will work. That's money that can go toward a replacement sheave.
This is for a greenie, though I believe the buttons are the same.
In any case, I might as well order one if I can find the size. Here I've been waiting for a week or so for nachi bearings for the quill and drive shaft, only to find I must not have clicked the final confirmation for the purchase. No sign on bank account, paypal, or in email. Oh well.

OK, well, I see the outside of the bearing is 6mm per Bill Mayo:

Is the button a straight rod or does it have a step in it? - Does it get narrower as it enters the bearing?
How wide is the bearing (axially)?
I read about boring or drilling the hole a very small amount to allow staking the bearing in place, and about the potenial need to drill it deeper for the same reason - though I gather the latter may not apply since this is an older machine.

If yours is a greenie, the 'button' may be square.
The button has a larger od at the outer end, and an od to match the bearing, but is staked to retain it in the bearing inner race.
The reason for boring slightly is to provide more material on the end of the control sheave for peening/staking that retains the bearing in the control sheave 'snout'.

Thanks. I realize now I wasn't clear what I was trying to ask... What is the actual bearing size?
I'd written more but finally went and pulled the floating shave out and found the bearing is in way worse sharp than I realized. Nit sure how I missed it but it is quite crunchy. It came out easily enough since I used a small hardened steel piece to knock off the slight rim they staked it in with. It's a Fafnir 35kdd2. I see it listed in stock a few odd places but I'll measure it and call vxb bearings for an equivalent tomorrow. Haven't tried removing the button from the bearing yet but since I don't care about the bearing surviving in can always cut the bearing away is need be.

The speed control sheave bearing and button is available on Ebay. It is where I buy my replacements. I do machine the control sheave for more bearing depth so I can stake the bearing. I have brought many products from this vendor without any problems.

I got mine form eBay as well. With a little machineing (jam chucked it) with a carbide cutter, all was well!

Chris, I'm not clear on how you mounted it. I picture an expanding jam chuck in the sheave side, but did you need a steady rest?
