I am in eastern Texas for the week. What a contrast from southern Ca. Out west they are doing mandatory water use reduction and making everyone drain their pools and here in eastern Texas there is lush green and water everywhere.

What purpose would draining the pools serve? Unless the water is being drained into something that is catching it and recycling it I would think keeping it in the pool would be better than dumping it down the sewer.

Talking of pools someone said pools with their chlorine and other chemicals we put into them is putting more hydrocarbons into the atmosphere than all the Freon in the world. is there any truth to that?

I'm hoping there is so I can convince my wife to let me fill in the pool.

I do not think it is a matter of draining them as it is not continuing to top them off.

OK, i'm here, thinking of watermelons, and the Green party.

In Huntington Beach we are allowed to add no more than 1 foot at a time to the pool. The "rules" are ever changing as water districts jockey for position.

Neighbors down the street are today permanently covering their pool with many large beams set across it. Looks like they are trying to level it with the rest of their deck.

I keep trying to convince my wife to do away with our pool but she insists on keeping it for our grandchildren to use when they visit - only once a year from the East Coast!

I covet that space as a proper shop :roll eyes:

How about a wooden shop building as a retractable pool cover? Picture Paul's green barn sitting in your back yard. Push a hidden button, and the shop slides back to expose the pool. Even James Bond would be impressed, and the grandkids would love it!

Just think what having a shop 'over' a pool will do for rust!
