Sketchup Users Take Note

If you are running on anything older than Windows 7 (like Windows XP) you will not be able to use many of the functions of Sketchup. As of June 1, 2015 you will need Sketchup 15 which does not run on XP or any OS older than XP.

Fair warning, Dusty. Thanks!
I'm not sure I understand that we will "need" SketchUp 2015.
Is SketchUp 2015 server-based instead of a completely downloaded app?
For those with the older OS couldn't they just keep running the current app? I understand that they would not have access to the warehouse and such, but would have thought they should be able to continue designing.
I have copied the app to my laptop and can use it even without an inet connection. Will the same be true for SketchUp 2015 on my Mac systems?

I too have multiple copies of the app (on different computers that run XP). However, in a bulletin posted by Trimble, I read that some functions of Sketchup would not function properly after June 1 because Google would no longer support them. Trimble has apparently been redirecting to Google for support on these features that are going away.
The new free version of Sketchup is called SketchupMake and it downloads but will not install on an XP OS. The version that costs, and I do mean costs, is SketchupPro.

I checked a Trimble Note at
http://help.sketchup.com/en/article/3000177 and it appears that your older SketchUp Make will work on older Windows OS as long as you don't use any of the functions that require something from the internet. They Note details those functions.
I was interested that SketchUp Make will still work on my Mac Mountain Lion OS (I already knew that because I am using SketchUp Make 2015 now), but at some future release they will throw it out of support, too.
I am reluctant to upgrade to the Yosemite OS because in it you can no longer sync an iPhone by hardwire connection to a Mac. Sunc can only be done in the Cloud.

I would like to avoid that!

Nope, you can change the settings to sync manually by the usb cable. However you loose the ability to take advantage of several of the options the Yosemite has that make use of the cloud.
No issues with Sketchup on a Mac running Yosemite. Works nicely.
