what is this used for

This question would be for FARMER....
This tool my buddy has we think it is for trimming
horse hoofs and pulling horse shoe nails.
we had these on the farm and used them for fence repair
we did not have horses
the one he has says DIAMALLOY GG104 Duluth, Mn.
will attach a picture from e=bay the one at the bottom of
picture is what it looks like.
