Dust collector Specials

Shopsmith has a recent special on DCs and DC accessories. This reminded me of how much i use and appreciate their clear hose. Mine is the less expensive 10 ft. one. It is so flexible I can get by with twists or multiple bends with no issues.
The old black hoses usually sit unused, while I use the clear one always. If you have enough spare cash ($28.13 plus shipping) to try one - Go for it! You won't regret it.

I'm glad to hear this Charlese because I splurged on the big (16 ft) clear hose today. One of my 8 foot black hoses has a crack (my fault for stepping on it) and frankly the 8 ft hose never seems to be long enough. While the DC3300 is on wheels, moving it around the shop with the Mark V set up is always a bit like dancing in a crowded room. With the 16 foot hose I hope to stash the DC3300 collector in the far corner of the shop and be able to reach the Mark V virtually anywhere in the shop.
I also picked up a new elbow brush (my old one bit the dust

) and bought two extension wand tubes and the floor attachment. My DC3300 (bought used) never had the wand tubes or floor attachment and the comparable attachments from my "shop vac" did not fit as tightly as one might hope. I'm betting on getting a better fit with all-Shopsmith parts; otherwise I will have a fit because those attachment are far more expensive than the equivalent box store brand parts.

I won't know for a good while as I received the dreaded "out of stock" message when I got my order confirmation.

Just a quick note, we received the clear hose in today and will be making both sizes and should be shipping those out no later than Tuesday, May 27.

Love it when a rep from the mothership takes note of the goings on here! Thanks!

Thank you for that insight. I have an order about to be placed which I shall hold until then.

If your order has DC related items, won't the specials be over? Thurs. May 21st at 11:59PM EDT
Dust Collector Parts Suck! (As They Should )

Today my extra long (16ft) clear, crush proof dust collection hose, which was out of stock when ordered) arrived. What can I say about a dust hose other than it sucks very well!
At 16 ft, this thing is obviously loooong. But it is also very, very flexible and bendable compared to the black plastic hoses. The vinyl material may be softer than the black plastic hose but at the same time the spiral (metal?) support inside the hose seems more robust (less crushy?). I hope the clear hose will prove durable.
I also took delivery (last week) of a couple of other dust collector accessories that had been missing when I bought my used DC3300, including a couple of the extension wands and the floor sweep (plus a replacement elbow with brush). I will say that the wands and floor sweep work much better with the Shopsmith hoses than the similar accessories I had been using from my Sears wet-dry vac. Those Sears pieces constantly fell off the ends of the Shopsmith hoses. The Shopsmith brand accessories fit nice and tightly and stayed put in the Shopsmith hose as I vacuumed up the shop.
Dust collector accessories are boring but it is better to have ones that fit well.
