Cart for my planer

I needed a new method of storing my planer so I decided to put new projects on hold yesterday and build a cart. The plan will be to build a series of parts drawers for the base.

Be careful!!! Don't let that setup get top heavy!

Looks pretty nice. Mine is very similar and top heavy isn't an issue but could be on a rough surface I suppose. It is really nice to have the planer at working height and mobile so the lift is short and easy. You will like this a lot. :-)

Top heavy doesn't seem to be an issue. Calculations show it will withstand a 7.4 quake with no issues

I think I'd make it, so that lower hold down can be put to use.

I would add pins to make sure it cannot slide off the ends(during a 7.2).
One thing I like is the clamps are positioned as they need be to slip between the way tubes. Keeping that position may be a challenge when moving to/from the SS. Maybe a little 'gumminess' in the threads near the end?

I like it, a very nice design. However, it begs the question "Why not on a power stand?". If you have the room for the cart, the power stand does not have a much bigger foot print if at all. Then you don't have to lift anything.

I assume he does not have a 1 3/4 hp motor!

Power stands come with motors for the tool they are designed for. However they are not currently available.
