lathe chuck alert

I just bought a Nova G3 chuck and equipped it with the Shopsmith adapter but I also use it on my Delta midi lathe in conjunction with the SS tailstock chuck adapter. Today I noticed that the tailstock adapter had some burrs on the flat where the setscrew contacts it.
Nova uses a cup point set screw. I took a flat point set screw out of the help kit and it would only thread in about halfway when it started to hang up. The Nova set screw is also a metric thread which will necessitate a trip to my local Ace for a correction. Just be careful you don't over tighten an American screw.

I would be inclined to say: Do not use an sae standard screw in a metric threaded hole period - let alone over tighten it. ;)

I wouldn't do that!!! But the 5/32 allen wrench from SS does fit the socket of the Nova screw. So they look the same but they are not. Just a note of caution.

I thought you knew better! ;)

It is a fairly simple matter to grind the cup off the set screw and create a flat end.

5/32 is quite close to 4 mm.
