Headstock lock

I just inherited a Mark V from my Uncle. It has set for 7 plus years. I have everything lubed and working except the headstock lock. Any ideas on how to get it free so I can start using this unit?

When the lock wing nut is rotated counter clockwise, does the wing nut try to move towards the headstock? Or is the wing nut 'stuck' and will not turn?

You may need to peek through the backside 'port' to determine what is/not moving.

Looking through the "port" shows that nothing is moving. I just get minimal movement when trying to move the lock nut. I have tried to lube with graphite but do not want to force it and break the nut.

With some carefully applied pressure it has broken free. I have been putting the graphite and working it in so it is working easier every time I turn it. Thanks to anyone who posted a reply. I can hardly wait until I get to start using it.
