Hi,

I'm starting to work on the Bill Mayo headstock getting it ready for the powerpro I have on order and was wondering if anyone knows if the templates or drilling information has changed in the last couple of years? Or more simply put would it be safe to use the information and templates I already have or should I wait until the kit gets here?

Doing the prep work for painting now and could keep going if I was sure about the older information vs the newer information.

Normally Bill does this paint work but since I'm going to custom colors I ask him to not bother, I'm sure he has more important and useful things to do with his time them this sort of task which I can do. I'm to the point that I have to pick out colors but that has not been easy, I do know one of the colors will be white. I picked up a can of farm paint to try and it is white, they claim it is a tough paint so that sounded good to me.

If no one knows for sure then I'll wait on the drilling part until I have the kit in hand.

There has only been one version of the Powerpro Templates to date, we have not changed them.

I was wondering myself if Shopsmith sold a drilling template kit by itself as every time I service a headstock and repaint one, it would be nice if I could pre-drill all the holes and make it Power-Pro upgrade ready.

Thoughts?

I went ahead and used a unibit to enlarge the power cord hole. I figured that wouldn't be changing. Now I can dig out my old information and start planning on the rest of the drilling. Might be a day or three before I do that as I'm on several new and old projects.

I've finished cleaning the head stock up and have primer on the belt cover and motor pan. These are the parts I'm going to go with white paint on because that is what I feel like today. Not sure how it is going to look but I can always change it later if I don't like it.

I'm painting over the ruff gray surface because the paint was in pretty good condition and I don't want to take the time to strip it. Not sure if the while will look to odd that way so I went with a while primer, it will at least get me the general idea of how it will look.
