powerpro, not much dust inside, how about yours?

When I slipped a belt a while back I went inside to have a looks see at the belt tension and got the shop vac out to do a general clean out. When I pulled the cover there was very little dust, maybe a teaspoon or so. I have not had it open in a long while and it has not been cleaned out since mid 2012 when I put it together.
This seems odd to me so I'm wondering if others are seeing this too?
BTW the top belt was a little loose and I did an adjustment and all has seems fine but I have not had to drill any large holes since the adjustment so I will have to wait and see if I now have it tightened enough. The drilling went fine until the break through point went there was a small catch on both of the holes(me rushing it too much too).

Does this not mean that there is either no air flow to draw in the sawdust or that the airflow simply does not draw air flow. I don't have a PowerPro and I have not seen one fully assembled but I suspect that there is no air being drawn into the headstock from the shop.

I will take my belt cover off as soon as I can, but I'll bet you are right. It is why there are so many "heat sinks" cast into the motor housing.

I've never found an appreciable amount of dust in my PowerPro headstock. I've looked several times. Even a teaspoon full would have been a lot! I had way less than that.

Same here, I only opened it one time since my 2010 DIY installation, and it was very clean!

Just opened mine last week to check belts. Had it slip when drilling a big hole. Top belt was loose. Adjusted so all are tight now. Next to no dust inside (maybe a 1/4 tsp).

I service my Shopsmith on a very regular basis and I still have more saw dust within the headstock than I believe is good for it. I become especially concerned when I work with materials that create a lot of fine dust. This may all be a subjective evaluation but my headstock gets dirty on the inside necessitating regular cleaning.
